The Ronald McDonald House is a very special place providing a home away from home for families with hospitalized children in critical condition.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we provided accommodations (e.g., hotel rooms and Airbnb), meals, snacks and personal care products to keep families close to their child and his/her medical care. We have re-opened the House to continue our mission, but with a number of limitations to assure the safety of all those in the House. We have been unable to welcome volunteers, so all of the great things that our volunteers do for families – donating, preparing and serving meals – have dramatically diminished.
The stress and uncertainty that we all experienced this year reminds us of what families with critically ill children face every day. Help us continue to support these families as we re-open our House by supporting the Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley’s COVID Relief Plan.
Through this plan we can provide critical services (food and shelter) to families experiencing medical crises during this global pandemic. Immediate needs that will be supported by the Plan will include:
- Meals program – to give our families one less thing to worry about during their stay with us;
- Mental health support for families and staff;
- Remote education resources (e.g., access to technology and broadband) for young students staying at the house; and
- Personal protective equipment.
