A Message From Liam James Flanagan
After a perfect, “textbook” pregnancy, our son Liam was born June 21, 2012, but he wasn’t breathing and had no heartbeat. The doctors revived him and he was air lifted to Maria Ferrari Children’s hospital within hours of his birth. We were living in Poughkeepsie at the time which was a little over an hour away. With all that was going on, we didn’t have a true grasp on how long he would be staying in the NICU and someone from the hospital told us about Ronald McDonald House. We went over and took a tour of the house and there was no hesitation at all. The first night we went home to gather some clothes and then for the next three weeks stayed in a room at The House. Being so close allowed us to be with Liam through the cold cap therapy, surgery, and recovery. There are no words that could express our appreciation for this House and the opportunity to stay by his side. The staff and the security guards we encountered were all so very kind and caring. The House is beautiful and we were made to feel at home with provisions for everything we needed. Now 6 years later, Liam is a healthy growing boy starting 1st grade and we couldn’t be more appreciative of everything that the doctors and nurses at Maria Ferrari and everyone at Ronald McDonald House did for our family during his first three weeks of life. We thank God every day for the gift of Liam, Ronald McDonald House, and for the people that have helped him and our family along the way.

In Support of Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley
At Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley we envision a world where every family has what they need to ensure the best health outcomes for their children. Thanks to our community of supporters we can offer families compassionate care by creating and running programs aimed at improving the health and well-being of sick children and their families.
When a child is battling a medical crisis, our House provides families with all the comforts of home and eases some of the burdens they face every day. Together, we continue to enable access to medical care for critically ill children, allowing a family-centered care approach to treatment and giving families what they need most during this critical time -– each other.
