A Message From Liam Flanagan

5 years ago Liam was born, June 21st 2:22 am, 10lbs 1oz... he was not breathing and did not have a heartbeat and doctors began resuscitating him immediately. Around 5:00 we were told he would be air lifted to Maria Ferrari Children's Hospital to receive a new Cold Cap treatment for the next three days. We were so afraid for him and were hearing mostly horrible scenarios for what his/our futures might hold. We lived over an hour from Maria Ferrari so when we heard that we could stay at the Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley we were overwhelmingly relieved. For the next three weeks we were able to be by our son's side through his Cold Cap treatment, surgery on a clot under his skull, and then the waiting game of recovery. If we didn't have RMH we don't know what we would have done. Having a place to go to sleep at night, or have a snack or meal, or just see a familiar smiling face, was exactly what we needed and to be able to walk across the parking lot to get back to our precious baby was all anyone could ever ask for. We are happy to report that after 3 weeks in the hospital he was discharged and after 3 years of follow up appointments he was deemed a MIRACLE by his doctors! Today he is a happy and healthy 5 year old and just started kindergarten! If you can give any type of donation to this amazing organization, anything at all, it would help a great deal. Never in a million years did we think we would need to use RMH and here we are 5 years later thanking God that RMH was there for our family!

In Support of Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley

At Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley we envision a world where all children have access to the medical care they need, and their families are fully supported and actively involved in their children’s care.  Thanks to our community of supporters we can offer families compassionate care by creating and running programs aimed at improving the health and well-being of sick children and their families.

When a child is battling a medical crisis, our House provides families with all the comforts of home and eases some of the burdens they face every day. Together, we continue to enable access to medical care for seriously ill children, allowing a family-centered care approach to treatment and giving families what they need most during this critical time -– each other.
