Our family first learned about the Ronald McDonald House back in 2014, when our son Jakob, then only 7 months old, fell ill with a rare mitochondrial disorder. Our world was totally up-ended; we were thrust into uncertainty and worry … and we were many, many miles from the comfort of home or familiar faces. It was the Ronald McDonald House, of course, that provided a solid base of support during this time, giving us all those things that might seem trivial compared to the crisis itself -- but without which a family can’t focus its attention on their sick child. Since 2014 we have had numerous additional hospitalizations for Jakob. Each and every time, the Ronald McDonald house was there for us … and for that, our family will be eternally grateful. Realizing how important a role the Ronald McDonald House played in our lives compels us to take every opportunity we can to raise awareness of the benefit the Ronald McDonald House provides to the Hudson Valley. Participating in this event is one of those opportunities.
