When we were told Lukas had to be born at 24 weeks we were nervous but hopeful. He was flown to Maria Fareri Children's Hospital 3 days after he was born and had a PDA valve ligation performed on his heart within a week. We were very fortunate that the RMHGHV was there so we didn't have to travel each day to see him. It became our home for majority of the 5 months he was in the NICU. They made sure we were comfortable and had one less thing to worry about while being close by for Lukas. With Covid restrictions forcing only one visitor at a time the Ronald McDonald house was always a bastion for us to regroup or somewhere to be while we waited for a chance to visit again. I can't imagine how painful the time would have been without them and this is another year for us to give back so future families have somewhere to go during their child's hardships.
